A Word for the Year

Before the new year, I began praying for a word to meditate on for the upcoming year.

Here is a bit of what happened this past year when the word CONFIDENCE came to mind. I found myself journaling about my lack of confidence. Then, I noticed how people seemed outwardly confident and how people showed it.

I started contemplating the meaning of fear and courage. Fear has many tentacles or small roots spreading out from the primary word. Courage has a root word ‘cour’ that means ‘run’ in Latin, whereas ‘cor’ means ‘heart.’ The thought then comes that I can choose to run or decide based on the spirit in the “heart” of it all.

I would hear sayings and thoughts from various people or while watching a show or movie, like how fear and courage create a similar physiological reaction in our bodies. If we have that excited energy anyway, we can do our best to shift our thinking so it brings forth the courage to act. Hopefully, our actions will be the ‘cour,’ or from the place of love, part of the word courage.

All of this meditating on the word CONFIDENCE and more began to settle in my thoughts, affecting my actions.

Are the actions we choose coming from a place of LOVE?

”Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.“

‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I also began to notice words of wisdom like these from scripture.

”Be strong and courageous.

Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,

for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”“

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Some parts of the Bible comforted me, and I wanted to remember them. That is when the idea for the SuperInfused Lifestyle Method of memorizing affirming scriptures like these came to light. So this coming year, I will publish a workbook journal to do just that; keep an eye out for the link to be provided or sign up to receive notice of its publication launch date.

The word that came to mind for this coming year is Reconciliation, and I am sure there is much to learn and reconcile. I was uncomfortable with choosing this word. The idea that it may be a challenge is also a blessing because it may cause the growth needed while pondering and experiencing the changes.

Praying for you to choose a word for the year that is uplifting, plants a seed of growth, and is an area you desire to develop and mature.

Let me know if this gave you any new insight and what word you may be choosing to meditate on this coming year.
