Have you had those moments when you feel like you are giving it your all? You are just becoming so depleted? The journey you are on can have so many tasks that it seems there will never be an ending. What if it is all about the growth on the journey?
Just recently, I was describing achieving success as a driving metaphor. As I created a ‘Driving Your Momentum Through Self-Care’ workshop I realized something important. I was teaching something I needed to remember to practice.
It wasn’t that I didn’t practice these same techniques myself. I just noticed while creating the workshop, I still needed reminders to continue the implement these techniques.
What I was sharing in the workshop:
When I get these ideas, I want to see the end result. There are all these smaller steps to get there. As I began to achieve each individual task it began to feel like a mountain. Some projects just had so many things that needed to be done.
How many road trips have you planned? It is usually not just the trip itself; planning goes into it, and decisions are made along the way. Then, after each day, the energy letdown takes over. When those moments arrive, do you give up and say, I’m done? Or pause, take a deep breath, rest, or go for a leisurely walk outside?
What about the energy level right after a vacation, or big work event? What are you doing before, during and after to take care of yourself?
I have been running programs that cover caring for our body, mind and spirit. Each time that I’ve led others through this event I find the suggested habits start to build upon themselves. The information becomes more and more beneficial and layered. There are stress reducing techniques and a whole food based detox for individuals to base on their own needs.
As I continue to grow as a health coach I am still practicing maintaining my own health. This desire creates the self-care momentum that drives my own journey ahead and share that information with others.
What area of your life do you need to take better care in mapping out a course of action for?
Does the idea of accountability encourage you, or does it send you into discomfort? Or both?
Here are some tips:
- Start with the goal in mind
- Break down the tasks
- Chart out the course by creating a timeline
- Track progress (milestones)
- Adjust your course when necessary
- Check in (Do you need assistance? Or are there any adjustments needed?)
- Celebrate Success
